7-story Audi dealership on Greenbriar to be among the largest in U.S.

A new Audi car dealership is taking the urban-development model to new heights for its planned Houston location.

A subsidiary of Sonic Automotive is planning a seven-story retail and service facility for Audi on 1½ acres at the northeast corner of Greenbriar and the Southwest Freeway. The building would be among the auto brand’s largest flagship dealerships in the United States, according to documents filed with the city of Houston Planning and Development Department.

The design has a much smaller footprint than the traditional car lot, which often spans multiple acres and includes a series of low-rise buildings.

Sonic Automotive expects to begin construction within 30 to 90 days and to complete the $20 million project in about a year, said Raymond Valentine, the company’s vice president of manufacturer relations.
